1.5L Vintage Wooden Barrel Whiskey Rum Port Beer Cask Decorative Storage

About this barrel

This 1.5L vintage wooden barrel is new despite its old-world look. The seller pitches it for whiskey, rum, port or beer, and also as decorative storage, so it can work as a small cask or as a rustic piece on display.

Should you use a 1.5L vintage-style barrel for aging or display?

Either can work. If you plan to fill it, ask whether the inside is raw, charred or finished, since decorative coatings and spirits don't mix.

• Swell it with water before any fill and watch for leaks.
• At this tiny size, aging happens fast, so taste every few days.
• Check the photos for any spigot, bung or stand included.
• A splash of port or rum makes it a charming gift for a host.

If you go the decor route, it looks right at home beside old bottles on a kitchen shelf.
