Oak Barrel, 1.5 liter Vintage Wooden Barrel Wood Oak Timber Wine Barrel Mini ...

About this barrel

This 1.5 liter oak barrel has a vintage-style look and a size made for experimenting. It's listed new at $64.63. The mini wine barrel fits on a counter and suits short aging runs of wine, whiskey or homemade vinegar.

Is a 1.5L mini oak barrel good for aging wine?

Yes, for small batches. A small barrel puts a lot of wood in contact with a little liquid, so flavor builds quickly. Taste often, because a red can pick up noticeable oak within days to a few weeks.

• Soak the barrel in water until the leaks stop before the first fill.
• Check the listing to see whether the inside is charred or toasted.
• Keep it topped up between batches so the staves don't dry out.
• Confirm what hardware comes with it, such as a tap or stand.
