Antique Oak Wine Barrel With Label Empress Wines California Great Look Rare

About this barrel

Collectors of California wine history should take a close look at this antique oak wine barrel with an Empress Wines label. The independent eBay seller calls it rare and lists it in used condition at $600. It would stand out in a tasting room, a cellar or a den.

Is an antique Empress Wines barrel a decor piece or a working cask?

Treat it as decor. Its age and past use are unknown, so don't fill it with wine without inspecting it carefully and asking the seller.

• Zoom in on the label photos, because the label's condition is a big part of the appeal.
• Ask for measurements, since no size is listed.
• Look for rusty hoops, split staves or old repairs.
• Ask the seller to pack it carefully so the label isn't damaged in shipping.

A labeled barrel like this tells a story that a plain cask can't. The purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
