Antique Pre Prohibition Wooden Beer Keg Schells Brewery New Ulm, Minnesota MN

About this barrel

Minnesota beer collectors will want a close look at this antique pre-Prohibition wooden beer keg from Schells Brewery in New Ulm. An independent eBay seller lists it in used condition at $549.99.

What makes a pre-Prohibition Schells keg collectible?

Kegs said to predate Prohibition come from the years before many local breweries shut down. Read the seller's description to see how the keg's age was determined, and ask if anything supports it.

• Ask about any stamps, brands or labels that link it to the brewery.
• Get measurements, since no size is listed.
• Check the photos for stave shrinkage and the condition of the hoops.
• Display it away from heat and direct sun to keep the wood from drying further.

It's a strong pick for a Minnesota-themed bar, a basement taproom or a Midwest breweriana collection. The purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
