20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

A 20L oak whiskey barrel gives home distillers and spirit hobbyists room to age a real batch, not just a sample. This new vertical wooden barrel comes with a faucet and a bracket, and the listing says it's for storing whiskey, rum and brandy.

Is a 20L oak whiskey barrel too big for home aging?

Not if you plan ahead. At 20 liters (about 5.3 gallons), it holds far more than a mini cask. Bigger barrels age more slowly, so expect a longer, gentler process than you'd get from a 1-2 liter barrel.

• Swell it first: fill a new barrel with water before adding spirit so the staves tighten up.
• Char level: the listing data doesn't say, so check the eBay description or ask the seller.
• Upright stance: the vertical design and bracket suit a counter or bar shelf.
• Price: $87.89, new condition.
