20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

If this is your first cask, a home aging barrel should be forgiving. A 20L size gives you more margin than a tiny barrel, which can add too much oak quickly. This new vertical oak barrel with a faucet and bracket is listed at $95.50 for whiskey, rum or brandy.

How should beginners run a first batch in a home aging barrel?

Keep it simple: swell, fill, taste, decide. Write down the date and each tasting note so you learn how this barrel behaves.

• Step one: soak it with water until the leaks stop, then drain it.
• Fill it with a spirit you already enjoy neat.
• Taste through the faucet regularly and note the changes.
• Bottle it when it tastes right to you, not on a set schedule.
