20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

Buying your first 20L oak aging barrel is exciting, and a little prep goes a long way. This new vertical cask comes with a faucet and bracket, and the eBay listing price is $95.50.

How do I prepare a new 20L oak aging barrel?

Oak staves shrink while a barrel sits dry. Filling it with water lets the wood swell until small seeps close up. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.

• Fill it with clean, warm water and set it on a towel so you can spot leaks.
• If the faucet drips at the fitting, tighten it gently.
• Once the seal holds, drain it fully and add your spirit right away.
• Don't leave it empty and dry, or you'll have to soak it again.

The title names whiskey, rum and brandy, so start with your favorite.
