2L Charred Oak Aging Barrel for Whiskey, Rum, Wine - Home Distilling Kit

About this barrel

This 2L charred oak aging barrel for whiskey, rum and wine is sold as a home distilling kit. It's sized for small batches you can adjust and repeat. The title lists it as new.

Which spirits work best in a charred 2 liter barrel?

Whiskey and rum do well with char and pick up color and vanilla-like notes. Wine usually tastes better in a barrel that has already held a batch or two. Plan the order of your batches with that in mind.

• Cure with water: let it swell until any drips stop.
• Kit pieces: sellers use the word 'kit' loosely, so check the listing for a stand, spigot and bung.
• Rotate contents: age spirit first, then wine or vinegar in later batches.
• Storage: keep it filled between batches so the wood doesn't dry out.
