About this barrel
A 1 gallon oak liquor dispenser on a stand makes a real centerpiece, and this used one is listed at $39.99 in a rustic brown and silver look. One gallon is about 3.8L, enough for a big batch of aged cocktails, sangria or party punch.
Is a used 1 gallon oak liquor dispenser still worth buying?
It can be, if the wood is sound. Check the photos closely for cracks, gaps between staves and the condition of the tap, and ask the seller how it was stored.
- Rehydrate: fill it with water and let it swell before adding any spirits.
- Slower aging: a 3.8L barrel ages more gently than minis, which suits longer projects.
- Stand included per the title. The "S.C.C." in the title isn't explained, so ask the seller.
- Clean it: rinse it well, since you don't know what it held before.
