1 Liter Oak Aging Barrel with Wood Stand, Bung & Spigot - Mini Whiskey Barrel...

About this barrel

If you're trying home aging for the first time, a 1 liter mini whiskey barrel with stand keeps it simple. According to the title, this new barrel comes with a wood stand, bung and spigot. At $90.40, that's everything you need to start.

What do the bung and spigot actually do?

The bung seals the fill hole on top, which slows evaporation and keeps out dust. The spigot lets you draw a sample or pour a glass without tipping the barrel.

• Speed: a 1L barrel has a lot of wood for the amount of spirit, so aging is fast.
• Fill size: a little more than one standard 750 mL bottle.
• First step: fill it with water and let the wood swell until it stops leaking.
• Char: the title doesn't say. Check the seller's description.
