About this barrel

Batch cocktails taste better after resting in oak, and a new 20L oak barrel dispenser lets you make enough for a crowd. This vertical model has a faucet and bracket and is listed at $94.54. It makes a memorable gift for someone with a home bar.

Can you age batch cocktails in a 20L oak barrel dispenser?

Yes. Spirit-forward drinks like Manhattans, Negronis or Old Fashioneds work well. Leave out juice, dairy and anything else that spoils.

• Scale up: 20 liters is about 5.3 gallons, enough for a whole season of parties.
• Taste weekly: pull a sample through the faucet and bottle the batch when it tastes right.
• Gifting: pair it with a bottle of the recipient's favorite spirit.
• Setup tip: tell the recipient to swell the barrel with water before the first fill.
