20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/Faucet &Bracket for Storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

The faucet is what turns a cask into a vessel you use every day, and this oak barrel with spigot has one built in. It's a 20L vertical oak barrel with a bracket, listed new at $95.50 for storing whiskey, rum or brandy. Pouring through the tap means you can check progress without opening the barrel.

How do you keep an oak barrel with spigot from leaking?

Seat the faucet firmly, then run your water swell test with it in place. Watch the joint where it meets the wood. A slow seep often stops as the oak expands.

• The faucet material isn't stated, so check the listing if it matters to you.
• Open the tap slowly for small tasting pours.
• Flush the spigot with clean water between batches.
• Keep a cloth or tray under it for the first few days.
