20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

A new 20L vertical wooden barrel with faucet needs a little prep before the first pour. This oak cask comes with a bracket and is listed at $94.54 for storing whiskey, rum, brandy or wine.

How do you prepare a 20L vertical wooden barrel with faucet?

Dry oak staves shrink, so new barrels often seep at first. Soaking them with water makes the wood expand and seal.

• Step 1: attach the faucet if it isn't already installed, then fill the barrel with clean, warm water.
• Step 2: let it sit for a day or more, adding water as the level drops, until the leaks stop.
• Step 3: drain it completely and refill right away with your spirit or wine so the wood doesn't dry out.
• Step 4: once it's full, check the faucet joint for leaks and make sure the bracket is stable.
