5L/1.32Gal Aging Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel Bourbon Wine Barrel Home

About this barrel

A 5 liter whiskey aging barrel lets you mellow a young spirit at home without waiting a decade. This oak cask holds 1.32 gallons, per the seller's listing, and is offered new at $38.49. It also suits bourbon, and the title lists wine as well.

Is a 5 liter whiskey aging barrel the right size for beginners?

For many home users, yes. It's big enough for a full batch but small enough that oak flavor shows up quickly, so you can learn what you like.

• Swell first: soak it with water until the joints stop leaking.
• Sample weekly: the high wood-to-liquid ratio works fast.
• Refill: later fills usually pull less oak, so the results get gentler.
• Verify: confirm char level and included hardware in the listing.
