About this barrel
Home brewers often outgrow mini casks fast. A new 5L oak aging barrel (1.32 gallons) is a natural next step for whiskey, bourbon or wine. An independent eBay seller lists this one at $29.68.
How long does aging take in a 5L oak aging barrel?
Longer than in a 1L or 2L barrel, because there's less wood per liter. Many people like that: the flavor builds slowly and is easier to control.
- Swell it with water for a few days before you fill it for the first time.
- Keep it topped up so the staves stay moist.
- Check the photos for a stand, spigot and bung.
- Check the listing for the char or toast level.
