5L/1.32Gal Aging Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel Bourbon Wine Barrel Home

About this barrel

A 1.32 gallon oak barrel hits a sweet spot for home aging: big enough for a few bottles, small enough to fit on a counter. This 5 liter wooden barrel is listed new at $31.10, and its title names whiskey, bourbon and wine.

What should I check before buying a 1.32 gallon oak barrel?

Mostly the details the title leaves out. Look through the photos and description for:

• The char or toast level inside
• Whether a spigot, bung and stand come with it
• Seller notes on any finish or coating on the outside
• Instructions for the first water soak

When it arrives, swell it with water before filling, then taste often, since small casks age spirits faster than full-size barrels. Eligible orders are covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
