2 Liter Oak Aging Barrel with Wood Stand, Bung & Spigot - Mini Whiskey Barrels f

About this barrel

Whiskey gets most of the attention, but a 2 liter mini oak barrel with spigot is just as useful for rum, fortified wine or a slow batch of homemade vinegar. This new one comes with a wood stand and bung, listed at $72.88.

How do you keep a mini oak barrel from drying out?

Keep it full. Between batches, store it filled with water or a holding solution so the staves don't shrink and leak.

• Before the first fill, soak it until any seepage stops.
• Keep it away from heaters and direct sun, which dry wood quickly.
• Dedicate one barrel to vinegar. It's hard to switch back to spirits afterward.
• Check the listing for char or toast details, which shape flavor.
