Is a 56L Hungarian oak barrel with medium toast right for you?

It fits if your batches are close to 15 gallons. A medium-size barrel ages more slowly than a mini cask, so you have more control over how much oak flavor builds up.

• Toast: A medium toast usually adds gentle spice and vanilla without overpowering the base.
• Prep: Before filling, swell a new barrel with water so the staves seal.
• Uses: It suits red wine, whiskey, rum or a homemade vinegar project.
• Check: Look in the listing for dimensions, whether a stand or spigot is included, and shipping terms.
