VTG Handmade Oak Wood WHISKEY RUM WINE BARREL➕6 STEEL BANDS📏20 GAL 16” DIA 26”H

About this barrel

This vintage handmade oak whiskey barrel holds about 20 gallons (75.7L). It measures 16 inches across and 26 inches tall and has six steel bands. An independent eBay seller lists it used at $545.

Can a used 20 gallon whiskey barrel still age rum or wine?

Possibly. It depends on what the barrel held before and whether it still seals. Ask the seller about its past use and how it was stored. If the wood is dry, swelling it with water will show whether the staves still close up.

• Six bands point to a sturdy build, but check each one for rust or slipping.
• At 26 inches tall, it also works as a side table or bar accent.
• Ask whether it has a bung hole or a spigot.
• Ask about the char or toast level, which isn't listed.
