5 Gallon Oak Barrel, Wooden Whiskey and Wine Storage Barrel, 20 Liter

About this barrel

Need a 20 liter oak barrel for storing whiskey or wine? This new wooden cask holds 5 gallons and is listed at $348.60. It's a practical size if you've outgrown mini barrels and want to store a full carboy's worth of wine or a serious batch of spirits.

Is a 5 gallon wooden whiskey barrel good for long storage?

It can be, as long as it stays full. An empty or half-full barrel dries out and lets in air, so plan to keep it topped up throughout.

• First fill: soak it with water for a few days to seal the staves.
• Location: a cool place with steady temperatures limits evaporation.
• Interior finish: check the listing to see whether it's charred, toasted or raw.
• Hardware: see what's included, such as a tap or stand.

A sensible choice for home cellars and garage wineries, and the purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
