5L/1.32Gal Aging Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel Bourbon Wine Barrel Home

About this barrel

Looking for a 1.32 gallon wine barrel to give a homemade red a touch of oak? This new 5-liter oak aging barrel, listed at $36.93 by an independent eBay seller, also works for whiskey and bourbon if you make both.

Can a 1.32 gallon wine barrel over-oak my wine?

It can, because a small barrel has a lot of wood surface for the amount of wine inside. Taste often, and move the wine to glass once the oak tastes balanced rather than overpowering.

• Before filling: soak it with water so the staves swell and seal.
• Inside: the data doesn't say whether it's toasted or charred, so read the listing. Heavy char suits spirits better than wine.
• Pick one use: once a barrel has held whiskey, it will flavor any wine you put in later.
• Protection: covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

A small cask that gives home winemakers real oak character in a short time.
