5L/1.32Gal Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel Bourbon Wine Barrel Home

About this barrel

This small oak whiskey barrel holds 5 liters (about 1.32 gallons) and is listed new for $33.99. Unlike some similar listings, its title doesn't use the word aging, but it is filed as an aging barrel, so read the description to confirm it's meant to hold liquid.

What can you put in a small oak whiskey barrel?

Whiskey and bourbon are the obvious picks, and the title also names wine. People also use barrels like this for batched cocktails and homemade vinegar.

• Soak it in water before the first fill to tighten the wood.
• Set a tray underneath for the first few days in case it drips.
• Check the photos for a spigot, bung and stand.
• Expect more flavor per week than you'd get from a large cask.
