5L/1.32Gal Aging Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel Bourbon Wine Barrel Home

About this barrel

A 5L oak aging barrel gives you a small-batch way to finish whiskey, bourbon or wine at home. This listing describes a 1.32 gallon wooden barrel, sold new by an independent eBay seller for $38.88. A 5 liter cask has a lot of wood contact for its volume, so it tends to work faster than a full-size barrel.

How do I prepare a 5L oak aging barrel before filling it?

Fill it with water first and let the staves swell until any seeping stops. Then drain it and add your spirit or wine.

• Taste often, because small barrels can over-oak a spirit in weeks rather than years.
• Check the listing photos and description for char level, spigot and stand details.
• Keep it in a stable spot away from heat and direct sun.
• Ask the seller about anything the photos don't show before you buy.
