Thousand Oaks Barrel 1 Liter Mini Charred American Oak Bourbon Aging Barrel

About this barrel

The Thousand Oaks Barrel 1 liter bourbon aging barrel is a new mini cask made of charred American oak, listed at $88.66. American oak is the traditional wood for bourbon, so this is a natural fit if you want to try aging or finishing at home.

Is a Thousand Oaks Barrel 1 liter bourbon aging barrel good for beginners?

It's a sensible size to start with. One liter is small enough that you don't need much spirit to fill it, and it shows results fast while you learn how oak changes flavor.

• Fill it with water first and wait until it holds without leaking.
• Check the listing for included accessories, such as a stand or spigot.
• Taste often, since small charred barrels can give too much oak.
• Try it with white whiskey, bourbon or batched cocktails.
