5L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel With Base And Faucet For Holding Whiskey, Bourbon

About this barrel

A 5L oak whiskey barrel with stand and faucet is a compact way to age spirits at home or display a bar-top centerpiece. This listing is for a new vertical wooden barrel with a base and spigot, priced at $22.49 from an independent eBay seller.

Is a 5 liter barrel good for aging whiskey or bourbon?

It can be. Smaller barrels have more wood contact per ounce of liquid, so they tend to age faster than full-size casks. That also means you should taste often rather than wait months without checking.

• Size: 5.0L, small enough for a shelf, counter or bar cart.
• Material: oak, a classic choice for aging spirits.
• Prep: swell a new barrel with water before filling, so the staves tighten and leaks are less likely.
• Check the listing: look for char level, interior finish and included accessories, since the data here does not specify them.
