Mini Whiskey Barrel Keg 27 fl oz Alcohol Dispenser by Modern Expression

About this barrel

A mini whiskey barrel keg that holds 27 fl oz gives you a small oak cask for finishing spirits at home or pouring from the bar cart. This one is listed new by an independent eBay seller under the Modern Expression name for $18.50.

Is a 27 oz mini whiskey barrel good for aging?

Yes. Small barrels put more wood in contact with each ounce, so flavor builds faster than in a full-size cask. Taste often, because a little barrel can over-oak a spirit quickly.

• Swell it first: fill it with water and let the staves tighten before you add liquor.
• Check the char: the listing doesn't give a char level, so look at the photos or ask the seller.
• Confirm the parts: check whether a stand, spigot and bung are included.
• Gift idea: a compact alcohol dispenser for a whiskey or bourbon fan.
