small whiskey barrel

About this barrel

This is a used small whiskey barrel made of oak, offered by an independent eBay seller for $12. The listing doesn't give a capacity, so use the photos to judge the size. That will tell you whether it suits a bottle-sized aging project or a spot on a decorative shelf.

Can a used small whiskey barrel still be used for aging?

Often, yes. A used barrel usually adds flavor more gently than a fresh one, and some people prefer that for cocktails or vinegar.

• Ask the seller how much it holds and what it held before.
• Look for cracks, gaps between staves or loose hoops in the photos.
• Rinse it, then soak it with water to swell the wood and check for leaks.
• If it won't seal, it still works as rustic bar decor.

The purchase is covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee. Send the seller your questions before you buy.
