Stunning Antique Wooden Cask with Hand Carved Stand - Over 100 Years Old

About this barrel

The seller describes this antique wooden cask with a hand carved stand as more than 100 years old, and the carved cradle is a big part of its charm. It's an oak cask listed used at $75, aimed at buyers who want a piece of history on display.

Is a century-old oak cask meant for aging or for display?

In most cases, display. A cask this old is usually bought as decor, and the listing doesn't say it holds liquid.

• The title doesn't give capacity or dimensions. Check the listing before you pick a spot for it.
• Check the photos for carving detail, rust on the hoops and gaps between staves.
• Ask the seller about any history or markings that back up the age.
• It would work on a mantel, a back bar or a library shelf, or as an accent in a wine cellar.
