New 2 LITER FRENCH OAK BARREL Tequila Rum Whiskey Moonshine MEDIUM CHAR #3

About this barrel

Moonshine makers and tequila tinkerers should take a look at this 2 liter French oak barrel with a #3 medium char. It's listed new at $60.00 and sized for aging small batches of rum, whiskey, tequila or unaged white spirits.

What does a #3 medium char do in a French oak barrel?

Char levels usually run from a light #1 to a heavy #4. A #3 char leaves a caramelized layer that adds color, sweetness and smoky depth and smooths out harsh edges. It's a balanced choice for most spirits.

• French oak: often associated with subtle spice and a tighter grain than American oak.
• Speed: at 2 liters, check how it's going after the first week.
• Prep: soak it with water so the staves seal before you fill it.
• Extras: confirm whether a spigot or stand comes with it.
