About this barrel
This whiskey aging keg set from Hammer + Axe holds 800 ml (27 oz) and is listed new in box for $24.50. Its small size suits anyone who's curious about barrel aging but doesn't want to commit to gallons of whiskey.
How fast does an 800 ml whiskey aging keg work?
Quickly. With so little liquid against the oak, flavor and color can change noticeably within days, so start sampling early and pour it out when it tastes right.
- It holds about one standard 750 ml bottle.
- Season it with water before the first fill.
- Later batches usually pick up oak more gently.
- Check the listing photos to see what's included in the set.
