Whiskey Wine Barrel, Vintage Reclaimed Used Wood Barrel, Primitive Rum Keg, I

About this barrel

A reclaimed oak wine barrel can anchor a tasting room, a kitchen nook or a covered patio, and this used vintage piece from an independent eBay seller is priced at $495. Its listing title also calls it a whiskey barrel and a rum keg, so its exact past contents aren't spelled out. The title ends in I, which appears to separate it from near-identical barrels sold by the same seller.

How do you use a reclaimed oak wine barrel as a table?

Stand it upright, add a round top or glass cut to size, and you have a high-top bar table. Measure the barrel first, since the listing doesn't state dimensions.

• Check that the top head is flat and solid enough to carry weight.
• Ask whether the hoops are secured or loose.
• Use felt pads underneath to protect hardwood or tile floors.
• Outdoors, a covered spot helps aged oak last longer.
