About this barrel

If you want a 5L oak whiskey barrel for home use, this 1.32 gallon listing is worth a look. It is a new, small oak barrel priced at $74.48 from an independent eBay seller, and the title calls it a vintage-style wine and whiskey barrel.

What can you do with a 5L wine barrel?

A 5-liter size is popular for aging spirits or wine at home and holds more than the tiny 1L and 2L barrels. Smaller barrels age faster than full-size casks, so plan to sample regularly.

• Capacity: 5.0L, or about 1.32 gallons.
• Wood: oak.
• Before filling: swell the barrel with water so the staves tighten.
