Wine Barrel, Wood Wine Barrel, Decorative Whiskey Barrel Bucket For Rum, Brandy

About this barrel

A wood wine barrel for aging is good for more than spirits. You can finish a small batch of wine, age homemade vinegar or rest rum and brandy in oak. This new oak barrel is listed at $111.27 by an independent eBay seller and is labeled for aging.

How do I prep a wood wine barrel for aging?

Fill it with water and let the staves swell until the leaks stop, checking on it over a day or more. Then drain it and add your wine, vinegar or spirit.

• The listing doesn't give a capacity, so check it before you plan your batch size.
• Ask whether the inside is charred or toasted, since that shapes the flavor.
• Keep one barrel just for vinegar, because it's hard to switch it back.
• Store it somewhere cool with steady humidity.
