Wine Barrel, Wood Wine Barrel, Decorative Whiskey Barrel Bucket For Rum, Brandy

About this barrel

Looking for an oak wine barrel to age rum, brandy or a batch of homemade wine? This new wood barrel from an independent eBay seller is listed at $112.40. The seller describes it for both aging and display, so it can sit on a home bar shelf while it works.

How fast will an oak wine barrel age my spirit?

That depends on its size. Smaller barrels give more wood contact per liter, so they age faster. The listing doesn't give the capacity, so check how many liters it holds before you plan a batch.

• Swell the barrel with water first so the staves tighten and stop seeping.
• Ask the seller whether the inside is charred, toasted or raw oak.
• Taste small samples often, because a small barrel can over-oak quickly.
• Check the photos for the hoops, the bung and any tap.
