About this barrel
The title dates this antique French oak wine barrel keg decanter to 1933. It carries the Geraud Lafitte name and combines oak with brass fittings. An independent eBay seller is offering it used for $60.00, an accessible price for anyone who collects vintage barware.
How can you verify a 1933 Geraud Lafitte barrel decanter?
Look for maker marks, labels or stamps in the photos, and ask the seller how they arrived at the date. Confirm these details in the listing. The price alone doesn't prove the age.
- Check the brass parts for tarnish, dents or missing pieces.
- Look over the staves and hoops for cracks or gaps.
- Ask for the size and capacity, which the title doesn't give.
- Plan to display it unless the seller confirms it doesn't leak.
