New Char Oak Aging Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel, Bourbon Wine Barrel Home Brewer

About this barrel

Home brewers and spirits hobbyists looking for a new charred oak aging barrel can find this wooden whiskey barrel listed at $59.99. The title mentions bourbon, wine and home brewing, so it's a flexible choice for adding oak to a batch without buying a full-size cask.

What size is this charred oak whiskey barrel?

The capacity isn't given here, so check the listing for the liter size. Size affects how quickly the barrel works, because smaller barrels age faster.

• Char level: the title says char but doesn't give the level. Ask the seller if you want a light or heavy char.
• Beer and wine: oak can add vanilla and tannin, so taste small samples often.
• Seal it: fill the barrel with water and let it sit until the leaks stop.
• Hardware: confirm whether a spigot, bung or stand is included.
