3 liter Steel Band Oak BARREL / CASK for whiskey, tequila, wine, bourbon

About this barrel

Turn a blanco tequila into a homemade reposado-style pour with a 3 liter oak barrel like this steel band cask. It's new and listed for whiskey, tequila, wine and bourbon. It holds about four bottles and still ages faster than larger barrels.

How long should spirits sit in a 3L oak cask?

There's no fixed timeline. A 3 liter barrel works quickly, so start tasting after about a week and bottle it when the oak and vanilla notes taste right to you.

• Before filling: swell it with water to tighten the joints under the steel bands.
• Char: not stated. Ask the seller, since the char affects flavor and color.
• Hardware: check whether a stand, spigot and bung are in the photos.
• Storage: keep it out of direct sun and away from heaters.
