5L/1.32gal Wine Barrel Vintage Whiskey Barrel Vintage Whiskey Barrel

About this barrel

This new 5L wine barrel has the classic vintage whiskey barrel look. It's made of oak, holds 1.32 gallons and is listed at $38.33, styled for home bars that lean old-school. It works just as well for a batch of wine as for a favorite whiskey.

Is a vintage-style whiskey barrel actually old?

Not this one. It's listed as new, so "vintage" describes the style, not the age. That's good news for aging, because a fresh barrel hasn't dried out or held anything else.

• Check the photos for the stain, hoops and overall finish.
• Swell it with water before filling it with whiskey or wine.
• New oak adds strong flavor quickly, so taste often in the first weeks.
• If the char level isn't stated, ask the seller.
