Mini Wood Whiskey Oak Barrel 27 Ounce Spirits Heritage Bar Dispenser St. Bernard

About this barrel

This used mini oak whiskey barrel holds 27 ounces and is described as a Heritage bar dispenser, with St. Bernard in the title. The photos should show whether that refers to a design, an engraving or a name, so look before you buy.

Is a used 27 ounce mini oak whiskey barrel worth buying?

For display or occasional pours it often is, as long as it's sound. A pre-owned small barrel may already be seasoned, but you'll want to know its history.

• Ask how long it sat empty. Dry oak needs a water soak to reseal.
• Find out what spirit it last held.
• Check the photos for leaks, cracks or a worn tap.
• Small casks add oak flavor quickly, so taste often.
