Vintage Wooden 1Litre Oak Spirit Barrel Whisky Rum Port – Retro Bar - Unused

About this barrel

This vintage 1 liter oak spirit barrel is labeled for whiskey, rum and port, and it gives a shelf or drinks cabinet a retro bar look. The seller describes it as unused, but the eBay condition says used. It's listed at $45.73.

Is a vintage 1 liter oak spirit barrel better for aging or display?

It works for either. A 1 liter barrel ages spirits very quickly. If it has sat dry for years, though, it will need a long water soak before it holds liquid.

• Check the photos for labels, a tap or a stand that might show its age.
• Ask the seller how it has been stored and whether it's truly unused.
• If you do age in it, taste every few days.
• Port or another fortified wine suits this small retro bar barrel.
