New Char Oak Aging Barrel Wooden Whiskey Barrel, Bourbon Wine Barrel Home Brewer

About this barrel

Home brewers and hobby distillers shopping for a charred oak aging barrel can take a look at this wooden whiskey barrel. It's pitched for bourbon, wine and home brewing at $43.19. The title says 'New Char,' but the condition is marked used, so it's worth finding out exactly what you're getting.

Is this charred whiskey barrel new or used?

The condition field says used. 'New char' may describe the charring rather than the barrel itself, so ask the seller whether it has held anything before.

• Capacity: not given, so check the description or photos.
• Fittings: ask whether a spigot, bung or stand is included.
• Leak test: swell it with water for a few days before adding spirits or beer.
• Flavor tip: fresh char adds vanilla and toasty notes, so taste regularly.
