3L Distillery Grade Charred Oak Aging Barrel for Whiskey, Rum & Wine

About this barrel

Looking for a 3L charred oak aging barrel that works for more than one spirit? This listing describes a distillery grade cask for whiskey, rum and wine. It's new at $146.99 from an independent eBay seller. The charred inside is what gives aged spirits their amber color and their caramel and vanilla notes.

Can one charred barrel age whiskey, rum and wine?

It can, but each fill leaves some flavor in the wood. Many people at home keep one barrel for one spirit. Others go from whiskey to rum because those flavors work well together.

• Soak the barrel with water before filling so the staves tighten.
• The char level isn't given, so ask the seller for the number.
• A 3 liter barrel adds flavor quickly, so taste it often.
• Check the listing to see if a stand, bung or spigot is included.
