Sharper Image Wood Whiskey Barrel 800 ml 27 FL OZ of Whiskey or spirits Bar

About this barrel

A Sharper Image whiskey barrel that holds 800 ml (27 fl oz) is about as small as home aging gets, and that's the point. With so much oak touching so little liquid, a mini barrel like this one changes the flavor of whiskey, rum or other spirits much faster than a full-size cask. An independent eBay seller lists it new at $19.99.

How fast does an 800 ml whiskey barrel age spirits?

Quickly. Small barrels work in weeks, not years. Taste often and bottle it once you like the flavor.

• Swell it first: Fill it with water and let the oak tighten before you add spirit.
• Char level: The listing doesn't state it, so check the description or ask the seller.
• Fill size: 27 fl oz is a little more than one standard 750 ml bottle.
• Home bar display: The compact cask fits on a shelf or bar cart.
