20L Vertical Wooden Wine Barrel w/ Faucet&Bracket for storing whiskey, rum, brandy

About this barrel

Home distillers and cocktail fans who make big batches often outgrow mini casks, and a 20 liter oak barrel with faucet is the next step up. This upright model comes with a bracket. An eBay seller lists it new for $85.50 for storing whiskey, rum and brandy.

How long should spirits rest in a 20L oak barrel?

Longer than in a small barrel. There's less wood contact per liter, so the flavor builds slowly and gently. Start tasting after about a month and go from there.

• Soak it with water until the staves seal. Small leaks usually close as the wood swells.
• The listing doesn't give a char or toast level, so read the description.
• A full 20L barrel is heavy, so put it where it will stay before you fill it.
• Pour samples from the faucet instead of opening the bung.

Like any eBay purchase, it's covered by the eBay Money Back Guarantee.
