20L Oak Aging Barrel Mini Whiskey Barrels Age Cocktails Bourbon, Whisky, Tequila

About this barrel

For big batches of Old Fashioneds or Negronis, or a home bourbon-aging project, a 20L oak aging barrel gives you room to work. This new one is marketed for whisky, tequila and cocktails. At $178.99 it's at the larger end of what most hobbyists call mini whiskey barrels.

Does a 20L oak aging barrel age slower than a small one?

Yes. With less wood contact per liter, it ages more gently, and many people find the results smoother and more balanced.

• Be patient: expect months, not weeks, before the flavor fully develops.
• Swell it first: fill it with water until the seams seal.
• Char: the title doesn't give details, so check the listing.
• Keep it full: keeping it close to full limits evaporation and oxidation.

Great for parties, gifts or a shared aging club.
