30L Vintage Wood Wine Barrel Dispenser for Beer Brandy Tequila Whiskey Rum Port

About this barrel

A 30L wine barrel dispenser holds about 7.9 gallons. That's a real step up from mini barrels, with room to age a serious batch and then pour for a crowd. An independent eBay seller lists this new vintage-style oak barrel at $112.40 for beer, brandy, tequila, whiskey, rum and port.

Does a 30L wine barrel dispenser age slower than a small barrel?

Yes. Less wood touches each liter, so aging takes longer. The flavor builds more gradually, though, which makes it easier to control.

• Swell the barrel with water before the first fill.
• Check the photos for the tap and bung.
• The char level isn't stated, so ask the seller.
• Pick a sturdy spot, because a full 30L barrel is heavy.
