What should I do before filling a mini oak whiskey barrel?

Rinse it, then fill it with water for a few days so the staves swell and seal any seeps. Empty it and add your spirit.

• Start sampling in the first week or two, because tiny casks age fast.
• The listing doesn't specify the char level or included accessories, so read the seller's description.
• Keep it away from direct heat to limit evaporation.
• Refill it with a second batch for a gentler oak flavor.
