Authentic Used Oak Wine Barrel - Neutral

About this barrel

An authentic used oak wine barrel labeled neutral has already given most of its oak flavor to earlier wine, which is exactly what some buyers want. Listed at $178.00, it works for slow, gentle aging, rain barrels, planters or rustic decor.

What does neutral mean on a used wine barrel?

A neutral barrel adds little wood flavor, so the fruit stays in front. Oxygen still passes slowly through the staves.

• Winemakers: handy for white wines, or reds you want only lightly oaked.
• Size: not given. Full wine barrels are large, so confirm dimensions and weight.
• Before refilling: soak it with water to rehydrate it, and check for leaks or off smells.
• Garden use: cut it in half for planters if you don't plan to age anything.

Ask the seller which wine it held last.
